Assemblies at BPC

Lower School Assemblies

In the Lower School there is an assembly for all grades every Friday morning. It often begins with a warm-up song. The assembly is then most often turned over to a particular class that has prepared a presentation for the rest of us: this can be a play the class has produced, or some songs, perhaps a reading of poetry or stories by their young authors, or even a display of artwork the children have produced.
Here are some plays presented by students in assemblies:

"The Magic School Bus in the Land of Dinosaurs"
produced by the 1st Grade (Barbara Mahan's Class)

"The Lorax"
by Dr. Seuss, produced by the 2nd Grade (Iris Sabre's Class)

"The Elephant's Child"
by Rudyard Kipling, 3rd Grade (Marilyn Murphy's Class)

"The Emperor's New Clothes"
by Hans Christian Andersen, 5th Grade (Sue Bechtel's Class)

Several times each year there is an all-music assembly, during which one of the instrumental or vocal groups from our special music program may perform for everyone, and one or more of the music teachers will lead the children in songs that they all know. Occasionally we will have an all-singing assembly, which is a community sing using a variety of songs that children have learned in class in order to develop a common repertoire.
Parents are always cordially invited to attend Friday assemblies, and though they are busy, we are surprised at how full our audience always is!

Brothers and sisters from
the Upper School get to attend!
