Dances at Black Pine Circle

Dances at BPC are always really fun. We invite another school to them, so that we have more kids. It makes for a bigger gene pool and is a great way to meet new friends. Don't believe me? Well, here are some stories told by students from the dances:

NEW!! Looking at the lighter side of dance:

At first I thought it would be a boring thing that you would go to and it would waste your time so I didn't want to go, but when I got to the dance it seemed that it would be all right. There weren't a lot of people at the dance when I got there, in fact it was me and a few others. When I left I wanted to stay and not leave it was so fun. So I'm sure that it will be fun for all others.

You never know how much fun you will have:

At the first dance I went to last year, I didn't even know if I wanted to go. But I figured that if I liked it, it would definitely be worth it since there were only 4 dances last year. I asked my dad to pick me up around 9:00, an hour before the dance ended. It was a mistake. When I first went in, I was overwhelmed by the loud music and the crazy lighting. But after I found my friends, I had a great time and wished I hadn't asked to be picked up early. The dances are really fun, even if you don't like the music. I think more people should come, because even if you don't dance, it's still a great oppurtunity to hang out and meet new friends.

Sometimes you don't even know when you hurt a friend.....

Here is my story. It was a good dance. I had done some break dancing and felt good. It came to the last slow dance of the night and so far it was a good evening. My friends were having a good time and so was I. At the last slow dance my friend, "Anonymous", asked Kate to dance. She said no. Not knowing that she had said no to my friend, I asked her to dance. SHE WAS FINE! It was a good slow dance and I felt good about myself. After the dance, I went home and my friend slept over. On the way home, he told me that he had asked her to dance three times and she said no. Even on the "girls can't say no" dance. I chalked the night up as fun, and had a fun sleepover with a disappointed friend. To you Kate, thank you and how dare you.

A clothing crisis:

My little amusing story about our dances is that for our Halloween dance I had worn this costume dress. And while I was gettin' my groove on I happened to feel a little breeze go across my chest. As I looked down to see what was going on I noticed that one of my straps had broken and that I was on the verge of being exposed. I ran to the bathroom and grabbed one of my friends on the way. I told her to go grab some tape and meet me in the bathroom. When in there, we both taped the strap together until it was pretty secure. After it was finished I put my coat back on . . . entered the dance floor . . . and continued to get my groove on!

NEW!! An upsetting omen:

It all started out when my friend Avalon had a certain dream. The dream was about her friend Mitsubishi and a boy Mitsubishi liked a lot, Honda. She dreamt that Honda asked Mitsubishi to be his girlfriend at the school dance. Avalon told Mitsubishi every little detail about the dream and Mitsubishi got really excited about it because Avalon told her that the dream seemed more like a premonition. They were counting down the days until the dance. On the day of the dance, Avalon told Mitsubishi that in the dream, there was a full moon, and at the dance there would be a full moon too. This excited Mitsubishi even more. At the dance Avalon told Mitsubishi that she was wearing the same outfit she was in the dream. Mitsubishi waited for the dream to actually happen, but by the last song, Mitsubishi realized that the dream would not happen and was very depressed.

Bringing together old friends:

At one of the dances at the beginning of last year, I was new at the school and I did not really know anybody well enough to have anyone to hang out with. So I was sitting in one of the vacant rooms when I saw one of my friends from my old school! I spent the rest of the dance talking and dancing with her, and I had a great time!

Dances can cheer anyone up. Disasters can all be forgotten with some loud music and a bunch of friends:

The night of the last dance was a disaster to begin with. My mom and my sister had just had this big fight so I was a little upset about that, and to add to it the shirt I had washed to wear didn't dry all the way so I went more than a little damp. When I got there something not so nice happened between me and my former friend but I wasn't too very phased by it. Thank goodness once the night got going I ended up having a good time and I went home pretty happy.

Some people are just "special":

Well, when I was at the dance one time, I saw these people doing the strangest thing! They were throwing ice all over the floor! Later that night, I came back, and the same people were now walking over the area and slipping! Apparently they thought it made them dance better. How weird can you get? Eventually, though, the ice dried up, so they threw even MORE ice all over the floor. And they kept on doing this, all night long. Maybe that's why we don't have ice at the dances anymore...
