BPC Green Day 2005

Classrooms Energy Fair Candid Photos!

The purpose of Greenday was to make the students realize more about the Earth and its troubles. We specifically thought about how much energy we use and how to save such energy. For this special day there was a change of schedule, and during the day instead of regular classes, we went to different classes to do things related to green.

In drama we created skits to show ways to conserve energy. In science we studied the light bulb and did experiments about it. In history we learned about the history of the production of energy. In Art class we drew posters that represented the 4 R's (reduce, reuse, recycle, rot). For math we learned about our PG&E bills and how to read watts and BTU's.

For the remaining part of the day there was an earthly fair! There were six rotating stations as follows: One, a Greenday bingo; Two, was using a solar oven for cooking, Three, was using the meter for the phantom current, Four, we learned about all the trash in the landfill much of which comes from packaging, Five, we made fans and other wind generators, and finally, Six, we went for a little shopping spree practicing the 4Rs. We all had a great time and learned a lot on Greenday!
