"HOUSES" IN THE LOWER SCHOOL

Our BPC Lower School students reside in special "houses" for special occasions. Every child belongs to a "house" that is inhabited by children from all grades, K-5. Each house has its own color, its own animal mascot and even its own song that blends with all the other house songs to form a harmonious round at Friday assemblies. These houses give the students a "family" to be a part of within the larger BPC clan.

Each classroom teacher sponsors one of the houses and meets with his or her house family about once a month for some special activity--such as an arts & crafts project, a trip to the park, or a special game. For some assemblies the students sit together in their house groups to sing songs and get a cozy-together feeling with their older and younger "family" members and their friendly mascot.

In January the Houses learned about the life and work of Martin Luther King, Jr. These activities culminated in a special assembly for all.

One of the first activities the houses do is to create their mascot picture which is used as a symbol and logo throughout the year. Here are this year's house mascots. Click on a thumbnail to see a better view and comments by house members about their activities!
