Social Studies:
As we continue our study of Native Americans, learn more about the Kwakiutl of the Northwest Coast,
Native Americans of the Great Plains, and the Navajo of the Southwest, or get an overview of the Native American Cultures of North America.

Science
We will be studying the properties of light and sound waves and learning about the anatomy of the eye.
In art, Ms. Kim will be expanding our study of sound to include the creation of musical sculptures.
Students can learn more about sound waves and explore The Science of Sound. Take a look at The Electromagnetic Spectrum, then experiment with a mixing colors activity

★Review new grammar concepts with fun G.U.M. Practice games!
★In math, students are exploring algebra with Vera and exploring some multiplication basics in class. As always, I recommend checking The National Library for Virtual Manipulatives for fun math games that explore conceptual and procedural understanding.
Reading and Language Arts
To learn more about “Animals and Their Habitats,” play Animal Habitat Games or take the BBC Nature - Mammals Quiz. The California Academy of Sciences is organized largely by habitat, and is a lot of fun!
A tip: get there early, preferably when it first opens!
