Sarasvati is the god of music, knowledge, culture, obedience and true wisdom. Her characteristic sign is a peacock, goose, or swan. She plays the vina, an Indian instrument. She holds in her four hands prayer beads, a lotus flower, and a bundle of manuscripts.
Lakshmi is the wife of god Vishnu. She is the goddess of prosperity, chastity, generosity, beauty. She sits on a fully blossomed lotus flower. Her palm is always extended to bless people. When her husband, Vishnu, changes into a form, she changes into the form's wife.
