Lower School Celebrates Mexico's
Day of the Dead!

| Fourth Grade Sugar Skulls |
The month of October was a busy one. Students in grades 1 - 4 were focused on activities to honor Day of the Dead. In Mexico, El Dia de los Muertos, as it is called in Spanish, is a time to honor those who have passed away by cleaning graves, giving offerings, and remembering loved ones. To celebrate, all the students in grades 1-4 decorated sugar skulls with frosting, sparkles and other goodies.

4th Grade Paper Skeletons
In addition to the sugar skulls and paper skeletons, 3rd and 4th graders created "ofrendas," Mexican altar projects. Using shoe boxes, they designed their own altars to honor everyone from pets to grandparents, best friends to Babe Ruth. Decorations included flowers, pictures, dog bones, cat food, incense, wrapping paper and much more. See for yourself by clicking here or on the picture below.
Congratulations to all the students who put much thought and energy into these projects. Also, thanks to all classroom teachers, aides and parents who helped us out! Feliz Dia de los Muertos.
Muchas Gracias,
Senorita Alison
