Good Free AntiVirus for Windows Free Spyware Removal Safety Tips: Besides having a good antivirus and spyware removal tools, the most important thing is behavior.
- Don't give any personal info online (unless you are purchasing something at a reputable online store)
- Never give out your main personal email address (even if you are purchasing something at any store). Always have a second email address for those times when you must enter an email address on a website. Once you give your personal email address anywhere on the web (NO MATTER WHAT), you'll be a target for spam for the rest of the life of that email address.
- Use common sense. Don't go to suspect websites. Porn sites in particular transmit many forms of spyware and viruses. Be very careful what you open in your email. Never download an unknown attachment, file, etc.
- Don't fall for phishing schemes! No reputable site (PayPal) will ever email you asking for you to change personal information. Never click on a URL in an email if it wasn't sent by a very well known friend. Instead, type in the URL name of the website you wish to go to yourself (knowing the proper spelling). For example, if Bank of America sent you an email saying "Click this link to edit your account or your account will be void and you'll lose all your money," DON'T CLICK THE LINK.
Instead, open your browser, go to http://www.bankofamerica.com, log in and make sure everything looks normal (if you are worried).
