Ok, KIDS: Have fun with these activities and questions. Invite your Mom and Dad to come and join you while you explore the science corner. Try out the activities and see if you can find out the answers to the questions. It's easy if you click on to the websites I have suggested. And, come on, let me know what you think. This site is for you and your family. It can only get better if you respond and WRITE ME BACK. So, try it out and let me hear from you!!!


The human body is one of the most amazing and complex machines that exists. Isn't that astounding? So, come with me as we explore this wonderful and well orchestrated machine!! The website links I will be suggesting are ones that I discovered on my journey on exploring numerous websites on the human body. Some of them include factual information if you would like to learn more facts on the human body. Others include activities that can be followed and tried out together as a family or individually.

1. GANDER ACADEMY'S BODY SYSTEMS RELATED RESOURCES ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB: This site offers basic and interesting facts, and diagrams on the human body's systems. For instance, relating to the skeletal system, it presents x-ray images on various bones.

2. A LOOK INSIDE THE HUMAN BODY: This site offers basic information about the skeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and digestive systems. It offers labeled diagrams of each major body system and a discussion of how each system works.

3. HUMAN ANATOMY ONLINE- INNER BODY.COM: This is a comprehensive site which offers descriptions, images, and animation on the human body's systems.

4. St. Francis Hospital - Health Trivia: This is a fun site with interesting trivia facts about the human body.

5. IMCPL KIDS HUMAN BODY (Indianapolis Marion County Public Library): This site offers facts on the skeletal system as well as other systems. It gives a labeled skeleton and then asks you to label the skeleton. There are bone quizzes as well as other interactive activities.


SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES SITES - TRY THEM OUT:

1. IMCPL KIDS HUMAN BODY: This site offers an unlabeled human skeleton diagram and participants have to match the bones with the given names.

2. HUMAN SKELETON PRINTOUT: This site gives a labeled diagram of the human skeleton as well as basic facts about the skeleton.

3. Bodyquest: This site offers an informative exploration of the human body for ages 11 and above. You can tour the human body and obtain an overview of the body systems. There are activities and quizzes to try out.

4. LHS FOSS "MR. BONES": This site presents a collection of disjointed bones from which participants are to connect and join to build a skeleton .

5. YOUR GROSS AND COOL BODY - SKELETAL SYSTEM: This site offers factual information on different systems as well as interesting facts.

6. BRAINPOP - HEALTH, SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY ANIMATION AND EDUCATIONAL SITE FOR KIDS: This is a fun, interactive site. It offers quizzes and animated movies on various body systems. Participants can even get points for doing activities and can enter contests for monthly raffles to get prizes.

7. HOME PAGE: THE HUMAN BODY: This site offers facts about the various body systems. For instance relating to the skeletal system, it covers broken bones, types of fractures and quizzes.

Ok, kids and parents. Try to answer these questions. The answers can be found by clicking onto some of the websites I suggested above. You can e-mail the answers to me. If you are e- mailing me your answers, make sure you list the question number 1-5, and then the answer. You can also give me your e-mail so I will know who has e-mailed me back answers or you can be anonyomous and just answer them without e-mailing me back. Have fun and remember, I want to hear from you !!!

  1. Name the smallest and largest bones in your body. Where are they located?

  2. How many bones does an adult human have ? Does the number of bones remain the same during an adult's lifetime? If not why does the number of bones change?

  3. Which animal has the same number of bones in their neck as a human?

  4. What bone do people break most often?

  5. Every body has systems. How many do you have ? List their names and function.
