Learning Specialist
The Learning Specialist supports the educational profiles of all students at Black Pine Circle School. As a Certified Educational Therapist, Miftah Leath uses her extensive training in observation, assessment, and intervention to design specialized learning plans for both Upper and Lower School students. Services include collaborating with teachers and parents regarding individual learning styles, providing specific classroom supports and accommodations as needed, resource referrals and recommendations for external services, and consultation with allied professionals for seamless case management. Teachers may request basic screens for speech, handwriting, memory, sensory issues, social and pragmatic language skills, and focus control.
Miftah earned her BA from Holy Names University, where she also completed her Educational Therapy Certification. She fulfilled her clinical internship at Raskob Learning Institute. Unlike a typical tutor, an Educational Therapist practices instructional and remedial interventions based on the latest neurological and educational psychology research. Miftah occasionally works one-on-one with a BPC student or with a small group of students by special arrangement.
