Dear Friends,

Thank you for considering Black Pine Circle School for your child. For over 35 years BPC has stood alone its unwavering commitment to Socratic, experiential, and exceptional arts and academic education. At BPC we actively pursue applicants who are “clever rather than conformist” as we continue our rich tradition in critical thinking and community building. Our intimate community of 234 Kindergarten through Eighth grade students and 56 faculty members look forward, each day to the exploration of authentic understanding

Our Mission, “…to create a learning community that encourages humanity, empathy, moral depth, cultural understanding, and freedom in intellectual “pursuits..” is grounded in the creation of intellectually vibrant people-- independent thinkers, who will never lose their passion for learning, their delight in research, and their involvement in cultural pursuits.
We hope you’ll peruse our admission pages and gather important materials about our school. We feel, however, that the best way to get to know us is to visit a BPC classroom! Experience students creating questions, playing the Cello, speaking Spanish, playing math games, modeling clay, practicing a play, and enjoying one another’s company.
BPC is a school where all students feel ownership and belonging, regardless of their socioeconomic status, ethnicity, learning style, family structure, gender, or special needs.
We are proud to offer financial aid to approximately 30% of our population each year. We continue to build meaningful community partnerships with A Better Chance, Making Waves and the Multicultural Institute. We are active members in People of Color in Independent Schools (POCIS), East Bay Independent Schools Association (EBISA), and recently received certification as a Green School (certified by the Environmental Schools Initiative). Perhaps most importantly, we have a tremendously intelligent, professional, and compassionate faculty and staff!
Please make an appointment to meet with us and tour our campus. We truly enjoy showing people around our unique learning environment! If you have any immediate questions we could answer, please email our Admissions Director, Faye Wu.
Sincerely,
John Carlstroem, Head of Schoolmailto:admissions@bpcweb.net?subject=Admissions%20Inquiryshapeimage_16_link_0
